Mongolian yaks live at high altitudes and endure extreme weather conditions. This means they produce a robust and unique fiber that is as soft as cashmere and much warmer than wool. Mongolian yaks have a coarse outer hair and a fine down fiber that grows before the onset of winter as additionalprotection against the cold. The down fiber is shed in early summer and is harvested to produce garments.Yak wool is temperature-regulating, highly breathable, odor-resistant and hypo-allergenic.
